Autumn 2020 Collection
This collection is a study of process
The process of designing and knitting a sweater can be a time consuming one. So, when shelter in place started due to Covid-19, I decided to try to use my time as creatively as possible and delve into this process.
Out of this came an instagram series called;
Isolation Sweaters
For the first time in years, I could spend almost unlimited time researching and trying new techniques, yarns, and really experiment with my designs. I didn’t limit myself to things that could be re-made easily or would be more marketable than others; I used limited edition yarns, I hand knit large sweaters, which took an enormous amount of time, and just let myself be creative.
The isolation sweater series led to the making of this collection and to rethinking how Apprentice Studio works.
Some of these pieces are one of a kind designs that are made with just the right yarns, some are hand knit instead of machine knit because I wanted to take the time, and some are older designs that I never tire of. All of these pieces were made with intention, and in the process, have helped me redesign my business.
I hope to continue to add to this collection as time goes on and bring this process into my future collections.
10% of all sales is donated every month.
Due to Covid-19, I’ve had to use my porch and home as my photo studio and myself as the reluctant model… Hopefully spring 2021 will be different with the possibility of group photoshoots again!
